Physical Education
This session we have a PE specialist Mrs Barlow who teaches classes on a rota basis one day a week. We recognise the importance of extending children's experience so that they develop understanding and competence in the differenct forms of movement.
The three aspects of movement we try to develop are:-
Children must have a suitable PE kit, including gym shoes. (Available for sale at the office). No jewellery should be worn on gym days, especially earrings. The school cannot take responsibility for items which are brought to school and left unattended.
Classes have in the past been involved in volleyball, hockey, rugby, football, basketball and gymnastics. The coaching available has helped staff to implement these activities in their own PE Programme.
Our Primary 7 pupils have a block of swimming lessons and our swimmers are encouraged to attempt the achievement badges issued by the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association.
We would ask that children do not have any piercing done during term time as they cannot take part in PE/Swimming etc, for a period of time.
If a child is unable to participate in a PE lesson, then they must supply a signed and dated letter from a parent or guardian.
